the-drive-to-level-5-podcast-–-episode-3:-can-lidar-be-effective-in-adverse-weather-conditions?

The Drive to Level 5 podcast investigates the seismic shift toward the autonomous vehicle and the technical advancements necessary to perfect the connected car, from foundational elements down to the component level.

The exploratory series connects with innovators across automotive electronics and embedded systems industries in preparation for the inaugural Drive World Conference & Expo launching in Silicon Valley August 27-29 with North America’s largest embedded systems event, the Embedded Systems Conference (ESC).

Listen below to our third interview, where host Jack Heslin sits down with Zhenchun Xia, a Senior Autonomous Vehicle Engineer at Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America. They will discuss Zhenchun’s Drive World tutorial, “Can LiDAR be Effective in Adverse Weather Conditions?,” which will explore the capability and advantages/limits of LiDAR detections in the edge conditions, like very far distance (up to 200 – 300 meters), highly dense point cloud in specific environment (trees surrounding traffic interaction, etc), as well as the highly dynamic driving conditions (high speed of host vehicles and the targeting vehicles, etc).
