Vimeo has announced the launched a “For Hire” marketplace, a platform designed to connect brands with video production creatives, and also help video professional search for paid opportunities.
Businesses looking for professional video services can post projects on the marketplace, making them searchable for filmmakers, editors, videographers, animators and other video professionals looking for new work. Brands can also search for talent based on their budget, project type, location, skills and experience. Anyone can search for projects or talents via the hiring platform, but to be listed on the marketplace, video professionals must have a paid Vimeo account marked “available for hire.”
Why we should care
Video advertising is booming. A recent report from Pubmatic revealed that advertisers will spend more than $29 billion on mobile video ads this year, and an IAB report from May claimed that more than half of digital video ad spend will involve video ads featuring original content.
Brands understand the value of video, but finding the right creative talent to write scripts, direct ads and produce video assets can be a difficult task.
“Every business, brand and agency today faces hurdles in producing video at scale,” said Vimeo CEO Anjali Sud, “Right now, they rely on informal networks and word-of-mouth to find the right people to make those videos — which is time-consuming and inefficient.”
Vimeo’s new marketplace aims to reduce the time it takes to source creatives by giving brands access to more than 30,000 video pros already listed in its “For Hire” marketplace.
